These images are taken from a series of slides, believed to originate in the 1960s. This parade takes place on Center Avenue in Moorhead, MN.

Context

  • Morken is a township in central Clay County, Minnesota. Their 4H club is known as the Morken Lucky Leafs. Kids from Felton, some from Georgetown, and some from Glyndon participated in this club. I was a Morken Lucky Leaf when I lived on the farm.
  • Oak Mound primarily consisted of kids from Kragnes, rural Moorhead, and some Georgetown kids.
  • Georgetown had its own 4H club at this time; it's the one my dad belonged to. Eventually, Georgetown's members were assimilated into other groups, like Morken.
