Tractor Kills Barnes Farmer[1]
Valley City (AP) - A Barnes county farmer, James R Scilley, 66, Fingal, was killed Friday when a tractor toppled over on him.
The accident occurred in the Scilley farm yard.
According to Sheriff Hans Solheim and the Justice of the Peace Anton Christ of Valley City, who acted as coroner, the accident took place about 7 a.m. while Scilley was attempting to hook up a load of corn to his tractor. Apparently the tractor was turned too sharply and tipped, throwing the farmer beneath the vehicle s it fell.
Mrs. Scilley, who discovered the accident, walked nearly two miles to Fingal to get help. She does not drive a car.
The Scilley's farm is in Norma township about a mile west and a half mile south of Fingal.
