Chevrolet Corvair
From The Infomercantile
Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Chevrolet Corvair was produced from 1960 to 1969, as a compact competitor to European imports from Volkswagen, Volvo, and Porche. While revolutionary in its design, the advancements in automobile technology were its downfall. Poorly designed weight distribution and suspension resulted in difficulty in steering and 'tuck under' collapse of the rear wheels when lateral force was high (such as tight turns, fast turns, or strong crosswinds). Ralph Nader devoted a chapter (erroneously refered to as 'the entire book' by some) in his book Unsafe At Any Speed.
